If the data on the drive has no value, why not just spend the $50 to replace it?

Hard drive can read and hard drive can write, so they call heads
read/write heads.
In your case appears as if your samsung can read but writing is BAD.
Like your drive has a broken leg, or possibly the nerves to one leg
are in need of a doctor or the brain is not talking nicely to the one leg.
I think one leg is broken, just a little, like a fracture so it cannot write
very nicely.
If you need the data, walk on one leg and just do reading.
If you want two good legs, buy a new hard drive.

@derp... are you really sure ?!?
@dimaz : I have the know how to fix your drive (if there is no physical problem, anyway) - but I am thousand miles away. If you post your location maybe we can suggest a pro near you that can fix it for few bucks.
If this last option doesn't suit your needs... well, nothing else to say.

No, GURU, it is in need of selfscan! I suggested to contact a specialist in his area.
