Maxtor 541DX model number 2B030HI WAH21PB0 815K7FRE
I have attached this to pc3000 in master mode and has read drive indicating problem in SMART and LBA. When attached takes some time but drive will become ready but when reading drive gets error message and problems shows up.
Have set drive to factory safe mode and now attached again and powered on and never becomes ready. Drive will not spin and motor has stopped but it is not possible to work with drive in safe mode to try and add fw donor to this drive to repair SA.
In master mode drive will become ready but in safe mode drive will not even become ready or even be recognized by pc3000. I know drive safe mode is no jumpers on this drive. Is there another thing to check on this drive to get it to enter into safe mode.
I have tried other jumper setting and can still not get drive to go ready in safe mode so that I can work in SA and fix my problems. Any suggestions on what I can do to get this drive to enter into safe mode.

When drive is in safe mode it will not become ready and I can not load ldr file to this drive to repair it. In safe mode it is not recognized at all and I can not work with this drive in safe mode in master mode drive become ready and I can enter to drive but not in safe mode.

2B030HI? is that the correct model number?
try replacing the PCB, it should get ready if u set the safe mode correctly.
