hi i have a maxtor/seagate
model no-STM380215A
firmware-3.AAD

i received it with a few of its pins damaged due to wrong connecting to ide cable. i corrected the pins but still drive cannot be recognized in either salvation compass or doctor. in doctor the power reads ec overload. the board also heats up alot.

i have a donor board from
seagate
model no-ST380215A
firmware-3.AAD

the board are identical...
what exactly would the procedure be for getting the data off the damaged drive?

thanks in advance

You need to transfer the ROM data to do the recovery.

I have the SDSD too.
I don't want to say my opinion.
Use a separate PS without the SD box.

Use 'another' tool or ask support.

Hi Friend,
Very small problem with very lower tools ? so try to another tools as described as diffrent tools are having diffrent algorithm and some tools are very good in some cases good to rectify this problems .as thats not the bigger problem and you can rectify your own with good tools ,as if your donor drive selecion /pcb is good..than use the perfect tool/firmware utility

Wait a minute....
You are doing the wrong methode.

For ROM backup, you should use the doctor's own output.
It will work for only ROM backup.
This is done BEFORE the drive starts the spindle wich makes the big load....

Try this way. ;)

Physically transfer the ROM chip.
