Fried PCB - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10

Quite an unfortunate one this. I had been away from my system for a couple of days. I get back and power on my PC, and in under a minute I could smell something burning. I opened up the cabinet to see that the cables connected to my master sata drive were burnt beyond recognition. No worries with that. I immediately remove them and connect the hard drive to another set of cables. The system works fine for a couple of days but then my screen freezes and I'm forced to shut down the PC. When I power it on again, I get an error that there's an error loading my operating system. Upon resetting I found out that the master sata drive was no longer being read in the BIOS. Eventually I had to remove the hard disk to see what really went wrong. It was hot as hell and the PCB had patches of black all over. Even the sockets had melted to a certain degree.

Upon arriving at this website, one of the discussions spoke of desoldering the burnt diode on the PCB to make the hard disk work again for a short while so as to give me ample time of recovering my data stuck inside. I did exactly that and reconnected the PCB back to the hard drive. Unfortunately upon doing so it didnt work again and now I'm forced to believe that only a totally similar PCB from another hard drive could make it work again.
