Maxtor Diamond Plus 45

November 26th, 2009, 9:23

I have a Maxtor Diamond Plus 45 that only clicks a few times when started.

I found what looks to be a close matching drive for parts and wanted to ask if it matches close enough.

Original drive:

Model = 53073H4
HDA = o4A
PCBA = o1B
Unique = 11A
Code = JAC61HUO
C,H,C,B
S/N = F4o3X52C
B1
ER
Made in Singapore ( )

Parts Drive:

Model = 53073H4
HDA = O4A
PCBA = 05A
Unique = 25A
Code = JAC61HUO
N,H,B,A
S/N = F40KVCKC
C216
Made in Singapore (2)

Thank you for any replies

Hello Pepe..I thought I would try replacing the heads on the original drive.

Are you sure your drive has heads issue?

The donor MHA is not compatible. Both, preamp and heads are different.

I'm not really sure what the problem is. Right now the drive just clicks. There was a time or two on start up where the system beep sounded more like a screech owl with an ingrown toe nail. Painful. Looking back, I think it was trying to tell me something. :lol:

Fortunately I didn't lose anything I can't do without..a couple of spreadsheets and notepads I would like to salvage.

The drive konked out about six months ago and I've been checking Ebay every once in a while. The parts drive I mentioned is on now and I wanted to know if it might work.

Thank you pepe for saving me a wasted effort.

But if u get hold of a compatible MHA, solely that does not mean u can recover anything without knowledge, tools and clean chamber.
I would advise to send it to a pro, although I know nobody likes this kind of answer...
