I had a 750GB 7200.10 Seagate come in that had first been sent to another company. The customer told me that when he sent the drive in to the first company it had a distinct clicking sound. However, when it was deemed unrecoverable by the first company, he said it had a different sound to it when he got it back. Now the drive is making the typical chirping sound that you hear when there's a weak head or a platter alignment issue. I don't know for sure if the first company left the heads in that they installed or if they put the original heads back in. The drive looked clean, and there's no obvious scoring to the platters. I can actually get the drive to come ready after a substantial amount of time in Disk Imager, and I can even image some sectors here and there. However, the drive is constantly seeking as if there is still an issue with one or more of the heads. I'm thinking either a sloppy head swap was done, or there may be some issues with head alignment. Any suggestions?

Looks like classic "CE log" error.

Can be sorted out with Data Extractor, or even Salvation tool oftens makes a good job of fixing this.

You won't be able to easily overcome this with DDI alone.
