Hello to all...I have a fujitsu siemens laptop with a fujitsu mhv2080bh [hard drive]. I have to format windows and install back again. I set booting from dvd rom as the first boot and i started, after initalazation i choosed new installation.........but i got this note.

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected
to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is
correct.This may involve running a manufactuer-supplied diagnostic
or setup prgram"

Please if any one ever met with this type of problem, reply me back and explain me how you did to repair.. thanks again from before.

Is this win xp? You may need to install from floppy, some special chipset driver by pressing F6 when asked by xp setup, though I have only encountered this with raid controllers.
After pressing F6, further on you will be asked to insert the floppy and press S.

Does the drive still have an OS on it? Will it still boot that OS?

ok, it's a sata hdd and it seems that there is a 'F6' sata driver that may need to be installed via a usb connected floppy drive.
This is the case for some Fujitsu Siemens laptops.

According to the readme in the sata driver download from fujitsu's website, you need to get the floppy "F6" driver from intel's website [they make the chipset] here
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... 6&lang=eng

Fujitsu's download does not contain the floppy drivers, which is why they point you to Intel's website.
A floppy must be used with xp [vista and w7 allows cd drivers to be installed] unless you go through all the hassle of making your own xp cd with the drivers integrated.

Fujitsu's downloads are here
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/com/support/index.html
Make sure to expand and choose xp as the OS, or the available downloads will not show on the next page.

Oh one more thing, when prompted, you need to choose the 82801FBM driver, this is the only one for mobile chipsets.

Hi, you first need to execute the f6flpy32 file in a windows environment on a machine with a floppy drive, it will prompt you to insert a floppy disk in the drive and then will commence writing the necessary files to the floppy disk.

You will then need to buy/borrow a usb floppy drive to connect to your laptop.
When you boot the xp cd, watch the bottom of the screen for the prompt to press F6.
There will not be any acknowledgment of you pressing F6, but further on during the boot process of the xp cd, the boot process will pause with a prompt on the screen to press S to install additional drivers.
When you do this, you will then be prompted to insert the floppy disk in the drive and press enter.
You will then be shown a list of available drivers on the floppy disk.
Use the up/down arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight the driver you want to install and press enter.

Oh btw, the file you download from intel is a zip archive, you need to use winzip or winrar etc. to extract f6flpy32.exe from the archive first.
