Hey guys... Just wanted to know if I could successfully do a platter transfer from a WD1600BEVS-00UST0 to a WD1600BEVT-75ZCT2...

The BEVS model has two platters in it and I was wondering if the BEVT model also had 2 platters. Please do reply urgently as the data on the drives are very important and I really need it back by the end of the week.

Thank you all so much.

Very important and you are wiling to take risks of loosing your data permanently? :D
I suggest you to send it to a pro in your country.

I am sorry to tell you that from your questions, you are not familiar with WD at all, sorry.

Sometimes it makes me wonder why recently so many people think it is so easy to do a data recovery on severe cases. Ummm.......

But would you happen to know if they have the same number of platters anyway? The thing is, I can't afford the time or the money it's going to take for a pro to handle the case for me...

Good luck if you do not go to a pro chances are certain you will loose your data platter transplant is not easy and for WD with alignment problem it makes it even harder - Buy some tools first might want to check here on the forum for what you need- make sure you get a clean box or clean bench to keep your platters from being contaminated

Why on earth would you want to do a platter swap on this?

What is actually wrong with the drive?

Let me guess, youtube told you platter swap works for every recovery case?

I guess you've already tried hitting the drive, freezing it and a new PCB without transfering the ROM?

You have zero chance of success in swapping platters in this case.

If we say "yes it is possible", will it increase your chances of getting data back until the end of the week ? Good luck, you really need it.

Even if it were compatible, you are not likely to succeed at getting your data off the drive and will very likely succeed at destroying the data and voiding the warranty on both of your drives. Realistically speaking, it is very rare that we encounter reasons to swap Western Digital platters. I'm really curious why you think you need to do that.
