Replacing PCB on a WD2000

Trying to find a replacement PCB for a WD2000JB - 00GVA0 DCM: HSBHCTJAG.
I have managed to source a WD2000JB - 00GVA0 DCM: HSBHCTJAH. Should I keep looking for an exact match on model and DCM number or will I be successful (assuming it is a PCB fault) in managing to get the data off the defunct drive if I use the board of the doner drive.

PCB wise look on the PCB itself rather than DCM etc.

Numbers you want are on a white label XXX - XXXXXX -XXX

This is just for a donor PCB. If the drive is suffering from any other faults a PCB swap isnt the answer. Also ROM contents need to be written to donor PCB.

I'd advise more details so members here can help

Sentinal, can you describe the symptoms? The PCB will work 100% with a rom swap, IF that is the problem.

some more information (the drive has been sitting dead for a while, have now picked up enough energy to try and get the data off so will do my best to remember):

Drive was working fine and was upgrading the drive and extracted the WD2000 out to an external caddy. On powering up the drive in the caddy, no noise, (no clicking, whirring, just complete silence and no vibrartion or movement in the drive at all) and after a couple of minutes noticed the power transformer was hot and blistered. switched off and removed from power. Ever since then the drive has been completly dead.

Assuming the board has shorted out and a new PCB woudl be the most likely solution. Trying to source a doner drive via ebay to swap out the PCB and to keep it alive long enough to be able to get the data off of it.
