Hello !

i m new to HD recovery. so go easy one me :D i have a Ext. HD that crashed. i m looking for the best way to recover the data. the drive is only 3 month new. it power up and it will spin. what happan was one day somenoe came over my table and his legs caught on the USB cable and disconected the drive from the PC. i restarted my PC repluged the cable back to the PC. windows ask me if i want to format the drive. at the point i know the drive is crashed.

ok now. i have done some research , look like there is a chance that only the file table is crashed. is there anyway we can just try to recover the file table ? my 2nd question is, is there a way we can make a clone or make it into a image ? also i don't know if the drive is fat32 or it's ntfs

thx!

micgo

Hi,
1st : Image your drive.
2nd :then use any recovery program like R-studio.

A camera, or a mirror

Jokes apart, you have to CLONE the drive to another identical drive (that you must have) and work on clone not on patient.
If you are totally unaware how to do it safely (assuming data is important) get help from another skilled person OR refer to a decent tech.
Just to address what the problem effectively is.

Clone with non-windows s/w such as Media Tools Pro or dd_rescue

why don't you utilise the skills of a pro company?
If its only file table it might only cost the same as a spare drive (which you will need to clone)
