If you used a laptop or other PC and IT has frozen lock the disk, you have to use the same laptop and remove security with THAT PC (check security settings).
Or revert what you have accidentally done even if you didn't get what (should investigate what exactly happened).
If the security system triggered "by itself" the drive needs to be serviced and there's nothing you can do. No software will unlock it, only special procedures that deal with drive internals.

This applies only IF it is the case, otherwise it's a temporary lock and you should check what happened exactly. In my life, I haven't seen (yet) a drive locked by itself - the cause was always external.

but what means this +--+- in the harddrive?
so i worked with hdderase! power cabel disconnected --- then hirens boot cd startet -- now startet hdderase 4.0 -- now pluged in the power cabel -- yes-yes-yes-- now the program says 1. secure erase
2.enhanced secure erase!
i take secure erase !! the programm says password set to " idrive " !
run the programm takes about 4 hours! succesfull ended!
i startet seagatetoll to watch about the lock state! and noving changes! hdd in security lock freeze!
but the hdderase progamm works 100% !!
i gave in the password "idrive" under atapwd tool but command rejected by drive!
under master /user pw delerte noving changes!

p.s it was an external USB HDD!! (frozen) now i take out of the external cover and put the HDD directly the ide cable to the motherboard !

Errata : send pm to falther .
You will have to send the drive in any case.

If no joy we can do it in Italy but at present, assuming the security erase procedure started, there will be no data on drive so the unlock/fix will bring (if everything is going to be all right) only a working drive, nothing else.
