Hello, i got today a 80gb sata maxtor hdd, when i plug it and turn the pc on it doesnt let my pc to boot it gets stuck, it doesnt work on windows/ubuntu, i have tried many programs to format it from boot, also tried to use low level format tools but it didnt recognized any of the 2 hdds that had plugged. used a seagate hdd diagnose tool and told that all the LBA blocks are bad. I dont care about the data on the disk, i want to fix it myself because i dont have money to take it to service and it doesnt worth it. I would like any help about any program, procedure or thing to do, to make it work again.

Thanks,

Camilo.

Since you don't care about the data, the best thing to do is get another -even used- hdd.
Talking about an 80GB hdd, it means that you're actually not pressed for much free space, right? You therefore, I guess, can even come up with some giveaway at some local forum (or even try to get one yourself from some recycling company or pc repair store, etc), say in the range of 20 or even 40GB (they are practically worthless to them - I mean used ones that they keep in storage from upgrades/repairs)...That is if you can't afford not even $1 CAD, 'cause like 0A stated, a half a TB hdd is considerably cheap these days.
