7200.12, 500GB Dead. Doesn't show up in BIOS

June 5th, 2010, 11:41

Hi,
I have a CC37 firmware & have bought it just 7 months back. & all of a sudden it gives me a smart error & before i could backup my data it just died off. It does not show up in the bios anymore. i tried the fix mentioned at : http://forums.seagat...OR-SEAGATE-B..., i can do a spin down & spin up with no errors, but when i send the F3 1>N1 command or F3 T>m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22 it starts throwing up the error: Failed to load overlay 00000005 LED:000000CC FAddr:00289581& keeps repeating the same thing. Kindly let me me know if there is a way to fix my HDD. I need the data inside it. PLEASE HELP...

"Failed to load overlay 00000005"

Don't think there is the free solution that you want.... :(

Diagnose post-mortem : the original problem was NOT in the class of problems fixable by the "DIY" solution, people always think that one solution fits all.
Can be solved by pro intervention, assuming you haven't sent a wrong command...

Good luck.

hi BlackST,

yup the original post wa not for "DIY" issue but for BSY fix which i thought my HDD was facing because it had the same symptoms. while following the method specified there i came across this issue, so thought people here might help me out with the issue. not with one single "post" or one single "fix". some people can't go to a Pro to recover the data cuz its expensive so they turn to forum hoping to find help. If this forum is dedicated only to re-direct to a Data Recovery Professional than i guess i'm in the wrong place. :) Sorry for that...

If you can afford professional tools (sorry you can't download form the net) and know-how then you can do it on your own.
There is of course a "solution" - assuming your drive doesn't have other internal / physical issues - but need pro intervention. That's life.

Your making more posts about this same drive? Your home made terminal adapter is not going to save you... What is the best quote you have been given for this drive?
