Problem is most probably SATA AHCI drivers of motherboard that are not loaded BEFORE starting installation OR the SATA controller on MB that is in native mode.
The disk seems fine.
Try different configuration of SATA onboard (as "compatible" in many MB) OR load motheroard AHCI / SATA drivers when installing (Windows asks for 3rd party drivers in the beginning of installation, a floppy is usually required or tell the OS installer where to find the .INF and drivers.

Hi,

Which Linux ?

Try Ubuntu or other very simple but yet very powerful with lots of drivers.

And the motherboards?

I can give you support in Gigabyte, Asus and many others.

I can't put the Skype or other messenger in here, so please send me a PM and can chat with you.

Best regards,

Neuron

It's very strange, because motherboard ASUS P5K lite (and MSI MS-7267) work fine with any other SATA HDD (install OS without problem and settings in BIOS set by default). if i plug samsung HD080HJ, installer don't see it (windows xp and ubuntu 10.04).
probably samsung HD080HJ has damaged chip or something like that.
