I bought a A-DATA NH01 640GB usb3 hard disk today, when I remove it by windows using "safely remove" the LED is still on and the hard still is turning. I used USB safely remove software but it does not work. what is the prob? how could I solve it?

I talked to an A-DATA technical assistant. He told me that safely remove of windows and simple software like "usb safely remove" and "usb disk ejector" can not remove usb3 part completely and still some of internal connections are connected. Does anybody know about a professional software for removing usb3?

As soon as there is no data transferred , all the handlers are closed and the FS is updated on the drive (SAFE REMOVAL) the HDD can be on as the power is still ON but it is safe to remove. If you really want to make it spin down and be completely off, you should find a way to cut power from USB port that can either be controlled by SW or cannot simply be possible as - depending on motherboard and config. - the power is always on because it is taken from power supply or from the +5 standby in some case.

Don't know your system. What you want exactly is strictly HW dependent, SW and OS are on a next layer.

what you mentioned is true about usb2 too.

When windows says it is safe to remove ..
that means unplug (remove) the usb cable from the computer.
