Hi,

This morning the drive was still working and I hibernated before I left for work (usually I do this).
And when I turned it back on at work, it start knocking. I right away turned it off (after 10-15 secs).
Do you think my platter still intact? There's no scrapping sound.

What caused this problem?
How much does it cost to recover the data approximately?
And finally any recommendation for WD 2.5" IDE expert who has actually ever successfully recovered the knocking problem?

Ppl dont like to post their prices in the open. Best way to go about it is to list ur country. Further diagnostics needed for the pricing , but if it will need a head swap ppl do it for 1k+.

This is because without proper analysis of the media it is difficult to determine exact complications. Maybe 75% of heads are functional and this is enough for recovery meaning no physical repair is required, or maybe one surface has media damage, or in addition to head damage there is problems with SA, maybe failure is something other than mechanical.

Best thing here is to get a professional diagnostic from a reputable DR firm. I am sure someone will send PM shortly

I think you misunderstand my post, it was not meant as anything other than informing the op why its not always possible to give fixed prices for repairs/recovery.
