Seagate Terminal MASKROM bad Check sum Error need ROM

ST920217AS 20 gig SATA.

Answers in private message OK. I have no plans starting a data recovery business, I'm too busy saving the world: http://www.youtube.com/user/TerraformingMaster

I decided to experiment on this obsolete but working ST920217AS before trying to recover a few 80 and 160 gig Seagates with bad sectors. A good thing I did, because my experimentation caused this:

MLITE - 1_Disk 3.00 03-
Spin Up Complete
Buzz - 15-05 20:16Time 13.207 secs
Head Mask FFFF - Switch to full int.

to change to this:

Interface task reset
1024k x 16 buffer detected
MASKROM - 1_Disk M-20 12-07-03 15:39

vCCCC and fCCCC produce the same results.

So, I assume I hosed the EEPROM, and need to reflash it?

Is there a way to do this through the terminal, or the ATA interface, or do I have to use ponyprog?

sending T>m0,6,22,,,,,22 followed by T>e5 followed by e9 caused "MASKROM" to appear when I cycled the power.

Does anyone have the ROM and certs/overlay for this drive? If I have to use ponyprog, can I flash the chip without removing it from the board?

I found this interesting: http://www.riccibitti.com/quickdesigns.htm
