I have received a few drives of the latest Hitachi HDD's Deskstar™ 7K1000.C
Several with burnt PCB and one with mechanical problem. I intended to use the good PCB as a replacement for one burnt. For my surprise I couldn't find a NVRAM chip on the PCB, only a 2MBit Flash. With or without Flash chip swap HDD does not spin up with a donor PCB.
Any suggestions what should be done to solve the problem?

Let me guess, first you are tried just swap work PCB, later you swap flash and tried again ?
