my external hard drive can only be read in bios can not be read in windows, does anyone have a way to overcome it? please help me

If it is seen in BIOS you can try to run a program to clone this drive to a new HDD. This way you are not working on the damaged HDD. I would start by making an exact clone of this HDD before going on any further. After you have done this one then it is possible that some recovery program might help you out in recovering your data. That is if there is no other problems on this drive such as LBA issues and other things. Also a little more information can help out in this issue to let us know excatally what your BIOS is seeing and reporting to you on this one.
