Hitachi Travelstar HTS541060G9SA00 Not Detected

October 20th, 2010, 12:40

Hi all,

I have a notebook by Compaq nx6325 with mobile data protection system and the hard drive (Hitachi Travelstar HTS541060G9SA00) died.

I have tried to access the hard drive via using an external enclosure case and all it does was making a slight clicking noise as if it was trying to spin up.

Any suggestions to recover the data?

Clicking? Take it to a pro

clicking noise is most likely the heads timing out and coming back to parking ramp hitting the stopper. I bet the drives spins just fine. Sry m8. Need proper diagnostics and chances of easy DIY are very slim.

Ninja Edit. I dont really like these drives... They come to the shop a lot with bad heads and/or full of bad sectors. It is possible that the drive clicks for you cause of the bads, in that situation recovery might not be very expensive.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't have anything important on it. Just want to know how to recover data the DIY way.

It makes a humming noise on and off.
