Lost data please help

February 6th, 2011, 14:41

Hi,

I have webhosting service through hostgator.com they accidentally formatted my server and I lost all my data. (I know I was dumb to not have offsite backups). They managed to recover data but there are not file names or extension they are just a bunch of junk. It was a linux server running ext3 file system. Can I recover these file names some how?

Thanks in advanced,
Jason

On formatted system the only way to recover is raw recovery. That means you get it as it is no folder names, file names or etc on this one. You get your records such as the name like 1000345 or different ways depending on what they used. So you will have to spend your time to rename it all and file it again accordly. Good luck
