No it is not this. We understand what you want. But nobody here will tell you how to unlock a drive that is PW protected. That is the problem on this one. Updating FW on this drive will not help you with the PW on it either. Plus FW is not to play around with and can destroy your drive if you update it with the wrong FW for your drive. Did you try to go to the Seagate forum and see what they say to you on this one.

Starting from the fact thet "IT CAN BE FROM CONSOLE OR FROM TV" it can be from everything else . There are PAY PER USE services that can unlock (and trace you) your drive over the net, other that can UNLOCK WHILE YOU WILL LOOSE EVERYTHING ON IT, otherwise seek for pro help in your area. May be necessary to sign an agreement about ownership of the drive or responsibility about unlocking data - it depends  (at least HERE and FOR ME it will be MANDATORY !) .

I'm not involved in data recovery, but assuming your model series is similar to current drives, then the following thread may have some information you can use:

SEAGATE: Non Standard ATA Master Password
seagate-non-standard-ata-master-password-t12920.html

The method involves locating the vendor track where the password is stored, and then replacing it with a known password.

SeDiv - HDD Seagate Terminal for Windows:

http://sediv2008.narod.ru/Easy1014.rar (software)
http://sediv2008.narod.ru/HelpEn.rar (documentation)

Discussion:
sediv-hdd-seagate-terminal-for-windows-t11980.html

The above demo version is time limited. You will probably see a message in Russian which translates to "This version is outdated". If so, then set your system date back to around April 28, 2009 (date stamp of SeDiv.exe).
