Alright, so, bit of an annoying issue. I know I'm doing something wrong.

This is an external drive, BTW.

A little while ago I kept having a problem with the original Western Digital My Book World Edition (WDG!NC5000N) where I either couldn't connect to it, or it froze after about 15 minutes and wouldn't let me back on for days. So I read that sometimes the enclosure fails, and decided to take the hard-drive out of the enclosure. I've read a few things that it's possible to get a dock station for the HD, or just connect it to the computer and do it that way. Right now, my computer will not recognize just connecting it to the computer. It's not seen in BIOS or anything.

I'd rather get the information off this way if it's possible, so does anyone have any idea on how to get it recognized?

Thanks a lot for the help.

If connecting it directly to the MB is not helping on this one and the BIOS does not see it then the problem is else where in this drive. Like you said it was hanging up your system before and would freeze your system after a short period that the drive was attached or running on it. If this is SATA drive and you have it on SATA port then there is no jumper that need to be set on this one. A docking station will not give you other results. There is an internal problem in this drive and you should at least have it examined and looked at by a pro who can tell you what is wrong with it. Sorry. We can recommands some good people in the US for you to send this one too if you do not trust anyone in your area.
