I got a Acer TravelMate 5720 which came with WD 320GB HDD 5200rpm, It was working fine for a long time, since yesterday, its causing problem,

1. bios detects but no Vendor device string, its detected but nothing is displayed, just blank space.
2. no info on HDD size is displayed.
3. makes some kind of sound i dont know! some kind of music, I dont know what the music code means its like ___ __ . in loop..!

Its annoying that it worked good till yesterday after a proper shutdown its not working ...? It had
UBUNTU 11.04 Alpha in ext4 and windows 7 OS and ~206GB is NTFS drive total of 3 logical partitions..!
The Disc was almost full.., so the platter is filled with data and i am fearing to open the disc may be its just actuator arm, which has issues like stuck and difficulties reading system area...! can any one help me out ?

First, have you any time opened a drive or made any data recovery? If not, do not open it if you value your data.

Most probably your drive has damaged heads, so if you can go to a data recovery company to get a quote.

That one I really don't think so.
If your data is not valuable best thing is to buy a new one.
