Hard drive parititions and volumes trouble...

January 19th, 2011, 20:40

Windows Vista 64bit
Using Disk Management...

This is currently how the window looks.

I got files I need to keep in Partition/Volume X.
I got 300gb unallocated I wish to use in new partition/volume... 2 separate ones if possible. A small one and a larger one.
After deleting a empty partition, instead of increasing unallocated space I got 'free space'.

Can only seem to make another "new simple volume" with the 'free space'...
Attempting to create a "new simple volume" with unallocated gets me this error.

Help? =)

Solved my problem.
Free space counted as a partition that could be turned into a volume... and for w/e reason that section of space was stuck in a position coming after C drive.
I deleted it as a partition.
Made the 300gb space a new drive.
And extended C drives space into the newly unallocated section that was of no other use.

Hope this helps someone. =)
