Corrupt Mac partitions after Complete Image

January 17th, 2011, 6:41

Momentus 5400.2 80GB from a mac mini, spent a while on the DDI, (quite a few bads) but in the end I got a complete image to a brand spanking 500 seagate

DRE didnt see a file system but that would be to expected.

Rstudio and the like only recovers RAW even tho it does see a 74GB HFS+ partition

Im going to run Prosoft for mac on it later but is there a windows version that saves me grabbing an apple machine.

does the bootable prosoft disk work on a windows machine (its says intel)

thanks

andy

Hi,

I think you really would be better off finding a Mac to carry out your recovery.

I once tried out this:
Code:
http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/Macintosh-Data-Recovery-Software.html
It worked well up to a point but after a while you realise any file with an invalid windows character such as !/\'*&, etc will be missed out and the recovery will stop. Still it is useful to be able to browse the file structure before starting the recovery.
