Hello I have a harddisk Segate ST3500320AS Its seems that it has some problems because each couple of minutes it make a ticking sound with a beep..
Its not my OS hard disk
I get this from Hard Disk Sentinel
"Problems occurred during the spin up of the disk. This can be caused by the disk itself or huge power load (weak power supply).
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
Problems occurred between the communication of the disk and the host.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.

It is recommended to continuously monitor the hard disk status."

First of all I think the problem is probebly in the Harddisk , yes??? , The power supply is VX450W CROSAIR
Do you have any advise for me to how to get to a point that the store will have to replace me harddisk? Is this enough to replace my Harddisk?

Or maybe even is there a way to fix this problem?

Please supply the full SMART data (including raw values) from this drive - it might include useful info.

From what you describe, this could be a disk problem - but just because you have a 450W PSU does not mean that it is working correctly ;) PSU problems can be difficult to diagnose.

Have you tried running the Seagate Seatools diagnostic software? It does not report every "slightly-marginal" drive as being faulty, but if it does report your drive as failing, then that would give you evidence to report to the shop where you bought the drive.

Thanks - What are the column headings for that SMART data? I can guess most of them, but not all.

They look like: Attribute number, name, (cooked) threshold, (cooked) current, (cooked) worst, threshold comparison & warranty status, raw value, ???, ???

Here's a brief update: Attributes 188 & 199 are a worry IMHO, and perhaps they are related (i.e. command timeouts due to SATA transmission errors and not internal drive problems). Attributes 5, 187, 197 & 198 show no obvious problems with the drive reading data from the media.

After a quick review, the only attribute which is a clear concern, is attribute 10. However it only has a raw value of 6.

Here is how I would approach further investigation:

- Make sure you have backups :)

- Gather another set of SMART data after some hours and compare to the ones supplied so far - are any of the values changing?

- Think back to when the strange noises first started. Had you changed anything shortly before that?

- Are you confident about your SATA cable? Attribute 199 high value may be indicating a problem in that area. If that raw value keeps increasing, I'd suggest changing that SATA cable.
