WDC WD20EADS-00S2B0 read problem

April 4th, 2011, 23:58

Greetings to all!

The problem with the disk WDC WD20EADS-00S2B0. Disc read errors. Very slow. Changed the cables, to connect to different machines. SMART seems to be no major complaints. SMART diagnostics did not pass. What distinguished gurus advise?

I politely disagree with that analysis. :( The SMART data shows that the drive has major problems with unreadable sectors - which is also confirmed by the failure (during reading) of the SMART self-test.

From that data, it's not possible to say whether the problem is a fault inside the drive, or whether the cause is something external e.g. power instability when the data was being written.

Tell me what tests are still needed to determine the cause and the possibility, at least recover the data?
