Looking for Samsung 1.8" SATA SSD Adapter / Connector

April 18th, 2011, 20:28

I'm trying to find a standard SATA adapter that connect to a Samsung 1.8" SATA SSD drive, removed from a MacAir notebook.

The drive is a bit peculiar in that it has a 24 pin ZIF connector, and requires 3.3 V.

Connector specs are as follows:

Pin 2,3 : 3.3V
Pin 8: DAS (Device Active Signal)
Pin 11,12: A+ /A- Differential Signal Pair A
Pin 14,15: B- /B+ Differential Signal Pair B
Pin 1,4,7,9,10,13,16,17,24 : GND

I'm sure that I can rig up something that will work with a soldering iron, but I'd prefer an adapter.

Anyone seen one that is commercially available?

Jon

It's not one of those new LIF connections is it? If so, we use these: http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/SPD/ru ... 043844.jsp

In stock here: http://www.memoryc.com/storageproducts/ ... drive.html

I believe that is the correct interface, only problem being that it is USB.

Jon, I was not able to find anything and just soldered one together out of an old IDE zif adapter

Thanks, y'all.

I have one of the ZIF to USB adapters.

Looks like a soldering iron, microscope, and wire-wrap wire are in my future . . .
:D
