I have an IDE WD400BB-75FJA1 with PCB 2060-001130-012 REV A
Drive does not spin, 12v draws about 13ma 5v draws about 495ma

Drive spins with a test PCB and off course the typical non native ROM clicking sounds.

I can read ROM from donor PCB in WD Pro.

Is there a way to read the ROM from the original bad PCB in WD Pro?

when i try to read bad PCB with WD Pro BSY light stays on
and nothing happens when I click on anything.

Assuming rom content is good, U12 is populated and drive don't have other troubles, an U12 swap will do the job, if U12 not populated then you need pro tools for that.

Since the PCB is bad, then you probably won't be able to read U12 using a software tool.

There are a few quick, simple tests you could do.

Measure the voltages at Q4, U6, and D7 in the following photo:

Be very careful, as a slip of the probes will result in catastrophic damage.

Why don't spend few dollars to buy a flash rom reader/programmer to extract the from directly from U12 of the damaged board?

I bought a EZP2010 USB programmer for less than 30€ and it made the work.. probably there are many other models more complete and/or less expensive.

It's not a Marvel drive either, so WDR is useless in this case.
These drives have 40-pin FLASH chips and only 2 versions of ROM, so you'll got 50% chance of success if you find a good working PCB

Sure looks like an 8-pin flash to me, and I can just see the beginning of the Marvell logo on the MCU.

Its a Marvell drive . Mamoth to be exact .

Yes its mammoth, yes there is a u12, WDR does work on it
I play around with 3 other identical PCBs and flash roms back and forwards with no problem.
I physically moved the U12 from the bad PCB to a donor PCB and got 100% recovery.
I guess there is no way to do it with WDR with out soldering or a PC3K.
