I am sick of failing seagate momentus and WD drives. Can someone hint for Toshiba's for build quality and HDA design?
appreciate your time.thank you

Resilient, well built , maybe a little less performant in some environment but a good choice to take into account. Don't know about availability and price in your area (compared to WD/SG).
Some more problems with data recovery

@Tommyboy :
1) the Seagate/Samsung story is offtopic for this thread
2) read the link you gave COMPLETELY and notice 'combining into' instead of 'sold the storage division to Seagate' or 'Seagate buy Samsung storage division'.
Nothing said about brand.
At my home it is different from takeover.
Please post on general forum (the etcetera...etcetera section).

I would choose Toshiba notebook drives over every other brand. My 2 cents.

Hello BlackST
following are my observations -
1)PCB quality is very low - connector contacts get rusted in 3-4 months
2)7200.12 f/w CCXX -- has lot of failures company to which I send for recovery says hda is poor ,scratches on platter even after changing heads no detection occurs or if detects data transfer is few sectors per minute
3) overheating and single platter low profile design could be one of the reason , smart and p/g list errors rate has increased
4) with reduced drive size heat dissipation is poor
5)for 7200.12 firmware defects are too much ( low grade smps and insufficient cooling could be the culprit)
