samsung 750GB HD TVS

June 2nd, 2011, 15:16

Hi all!!

Same problem with a samsung 750GB HD... Same solution, removed both TVS, and the disk... IS ALIVE!!

But I' got one problem when trying to replace the TVS, didn't know which one is 12v and 5v (the originals)

In the HD TVS come as "VU 8UF gp741" and "VU DE GP727", so i don't know where to place the SMBj12a.

Also, the originals one didn't come with the white line for polarity check. in the PCB i can see a "+", but i'm not sure is the polarity sign.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot (and sorry for my english)

The BUF part is the 12V diode. Its striped end (cathode) would be wired to the +12V pins at the SATA power connector. The other end (anode) goes to ground.

The DE part would be the 5V diode.

See http://pinouts.ru/Power/sata-power_pinout.shtml

The 741 and 727 markings are YWW (Year / Week) date codes.

SMBJ13A-TR, working voltage 13V, BUF marking code:
