Hi,
Some how with taking my computer to bits I have knocked off one of the 4r7 uh coils. I understand it would be just a case of finding another and resoldering.

I've found a site that sells 4r7 uh inducters but I'm not sure of the ampage or tolerance. I guess its 5 volts I can power up the drive but what would I check for and how ?

Its a samsung drive I can post a pic if it helps but all it has on the coil is 4r7.

Cheers for any help,
Fishy

Was the coil on the drive or on the motherboard.

It should be just a case of re-soldering the one you knocked off, ore replacing it, but it might be tricky to get all the layers of tracks that snake inside the PCB board.

It would also be better not to turn the drive on untill its fixed, you could cause minor damage with that component missing.

Yeah just on the underneath of the hard drive on the PCB. I cant solder it back on its snapped in half =/. Any clues ?

What would I replace it with I tried looking for a 4r7 inducter but there is literally millions of the things different amp, tolerance etc or doesnt it matter ?
