WD1002FAEX

July 21st, 2011, 0:21

Hello,

My WD1002FAEX is dead after a power outage. The drive is silent and is not recognized. Voltages seem fine except for the -5V supply; it seems to "die" after a period of time. For about 30 seconds after applying power, the supply reads as approx. -5V, after which it reads as approx. 0V. The diode of the converter seems to measure fine, or at least similarly to an identical diode on the board. Could it be a bad capacitor?

Thank you.
