LaCie MBR unknown - Should I be worried?

August 9th, 2011, 3:43

Hey hi, I have two probs -an MBR and an detected new drive - but will post each separately.
First:
I just cleaned up after rootkit, and my LaCie Poulton usb drive is still reporting unknown MBR. Can't seem to rewrite it.
However, the weird thing is, this is my most reliable drive and through all other even major probs - faulty power supply (blew up everything else! Arrrgh), roots, virus etc - it has survived and operated seemlessly.
Truth is I've never noticed whether it has always had the sus MBR all along, because it has been so trouble free and in bad times I was focusing on other drives.
Does anyone know if has its own MBR write and so that's normal (or even what has kept it out of trouble maybe?)
Can't find any reference to at LaCie but I found other HDD repackers sometimes have this.
TIA
