wd10eacs pcb issue

August 15th, 2011, 13:59

I know theres tons of posts about this here and ive read most of them. none say that 100% pcb swap wont work at all, they say most likeley wont work. what i have is this
WD10EACS
DATE 25 OCT 2007
DCM HBRCHV2ABB
PCB
ON BOARD 2060-701474-002 REV A
WHITE STICKER 2061-701474-300 AA
WHITE STICKER XC 4H06 008S M 0004160 8154

THE DRIVE IS DATA ONLY BACKUPS IMAGES AND THE MAIN thing i need is one movie from my wifes moms funeral. so if it will work to get movie only with pcb swap without the writieing of the chip then great if not then ok. if not does anyone have a less then top dollar place that can do the writing of the chips on the pcb thats not gonna kill my wallet? i just need the one movie thats it....any good news would be great.....

Post a better picture of the component side of the PCB please, one that shows it all.

The motor controller chip (SMOOTH) on the PCB is damaged. You would need a replacement PCB if the the PCB is the only damaged component, ie none of the internals of the drive were damaged, like the preamp for example.

As far as I remember and could be wrong, but I think the 2060-701474-002 board does not have a ROM chip at U12. You need to move the adaptive data when you use a replacement PCB and they are normally found at U12 on an 8-pin ROM chip, but if this PCB does not have a chip at U12 then that adaptive information is stored in the main controller chip, the one with the big 'M' on it. You need professional equipment to move that adaptive data.

If the PCB is the only fault then a decent DR company shouldn't charge you and arm and a leg for that kind of job.

i guess this PCB w/o ROM chip, and ur smooth chip is burned.
you may need a Pro. in Soldering/De-soldering to replace the burned Smooth chip

or

Donor PCB + ROM Programming (match) and hope your done after that
