yes...the vsc are the same.

I had to adapt it to this situation.

just for fun..here's an image...sorry for the quality..it's all I could get under led light.

the MCU it's a WDC.

this device has PUIS enabled&controlled by PM2...tested it with the jumper set and doesn't spin at powerup. what's funny is that if I send a vsc when it's PUIS mode...and not started..it returns "VSC error code decoded: 0x0000 -->> SUCCESS" which is different from the other device I've tested which returned some errors :)

bw..what's the second mcu in size..at the right of the WDC? I mean..what does?

checked. maybe the struct doesn't reflect good data.

I can read SA with H0 H1 H2..so there must be only 3Heads

The drive came formatted so I did a HDTune scan under windows and it shows fine.

Hello i've WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0_25.12E hard drive which burned the 12V TVS diode after power surge.
I replaced it and now the drive turns on again but bios detects it after a lot of seconds waiting, windows does not detect it.
MHDD sector scan stops every few seconds (and the busy light turns on), after few seconds the busy light turns off and sector scan runs again, then stops again after few seconds, and so on...

I tried to clone it but is very slow, stop and go every second.

I used Sediv and WDR 4.0 to do some test and P-list translators regen with WDR 4.0, but i get error 3C1D=FMT_ERR_FIELD-LIST_WRT_FAIL
The situation is still the same.
I tried also to reset G-list (which had 41 reallocated sectors) and smart, but nothing has changed.

I did some backups of loader and pcb firmware, and some modules but i don't know how to do internal firmware backup with WDR, does someone know how to backup the internal firmware?

I would start assuming more damage done to pcb and would replace it.
Then use WDR to adapt new pcb to disk.
Then the damage might have affected the pre-amp and/or heads.
To backup firmware with WDR chose read all and WDR will save all modules to work folder selected on settings

I think that whatever damaged the tvs on pcb did more damage to it (pcb) or to the heads/preamp.
If you need data stop messing with WDR as the drive will more likely have pre-amp/heads/pcb fault rather then firmware.
Take drive to data recovery firm !
If the drive have burned TVS why do you think the problem is firmware ?

I think the problem is due to pramp, because i alredy tried another pcb and did the firmware transfer with eeprom programmer, and it's the same...
Thank you.

Because it's not the first time i fix a WD with burned TVS diode, when it burns usually also translator get broken (due to a bad power supply), in fact the cloning on this drives is very slow and in some area it's impossible.
After rebuilding translator i got a good cloning speed in the past, but not this time

Right click on the modules window, on version 6.0 it's on I/O operations and then read and read all and check, etc...
I don't have WDR here with me but i can check when i arrive home.
Might be different on 4.0 but on 3.0 and on 6.0 it's on the same place. Right click with the mouse on the ROYL/Marvell window and browse the options to find the modules window. There are screen captures here at the forum too. Search for it, or wait until i return home.

I will post some pictures later today, at any rate 6.0 is pirate copy of 5.3 on 3.0 interface to work without dongle / copy protection.

Sorry, i can't share it or sell it, and even if i could i wouldn't because it was not for free.
Maybe someone else can get you one copy but piracy it's not allowed here.

Even 4.0, 3.0, 2.0, etc are pirated ones, even the ones with dongle, if you take in account that WDR is a rip off made using TREX with HRT gui.
At any rate i will post some pictures later.

it is possible to depop heads with WDR 4.0?
How can i do it?
Do you think may help depoping heads to get some data back?

Ok, i've just arrived home.
First of all, i wouldn't depop heads without knowing for sure what is the problem with the drive.
WDR 6.0 have an option to change the head map on RAM it would be better to use that instead of depoping (that would change the serial number, etc, etc ...)
I don't have 4.0 but with 6.0 yes, it's possible to depop and to turn head off on RAM (same way Deepspar Disk Image do).

At any rate remember that you have damaged TVS.
So more likely (and acording to the description that you provided) (and assuming that PCB is fine) the Pre-Amp is damaged and turniing off heads will not help.
