Got a WD4000BEVT-11A03T0 that eventually comes to ready and allows me to read all of the important mods, but does not read any data. No clicking but it takes the drive almost a minute to become ready. The drive came from a Passport enclosure and client did not say device was dropped. Atola Insight says head-stack malfunction, but I am wondering about corrupted ROM.

As a test, I took an unimportant module that was saved and tried writing it back in Insight. Now the same mod cannot be read.

Ideas?

Try new heads, a 500gb will be ok for donor, as 400gb are pretty rare in comparison.
