Hi all

I have an incoming WD10EADS which has a few bad sectors etc, nothing too serious.

Problem is, client removed and threw away the external casing so I only have the internal disk.

After looking disk into WinHex i can confirm 100% this is encrypted.

Can anyone advise as to which board should be used to read data off it?

I have tried with 2-3 boards i have here but none of them worked :(

Thanks

Man, from the day i saw your posts here i noticed your LOGO IMAGE .....
i do not think this is True in DR world (this is one)

#2, back to ur Question here:

Ask your Client, it is WD HDD, was it: Essentials.....etc

each one has its own pcb type

i have like 5 diff. types

if u don`t have it, buy new one for ur ref.

good luck

Hi

The logo is a joke, based on the famous "I kiss on the first date" 8)

Of course it is not real for DR. Just smile.

I asked client what type of ext. was it and their response was "it was a ... WD".. go figure.

Can you help with pcb numbers? I don't have a stock of these and i'd like to buy some.

Thanks!

Thank you both.

As per drc's fantastic idea, this disk was identified as My Book Essential.

Now looking to find which board should be good for this model. :)

This is a USB 2.0.

I now have two good ideas as to how to get data off this, thanks to pcimage and jono-ats (appreciate it).

I have ordered a board that will most likely fit, once it arrives, i will try your suggestions and i will post results here.

Again, thanks for all the help! :D
