Hey there,

got a drive by WD 320 even with warranty manufacture date February 2011. But WD says I don't have warranty, but this is a different issue. The drive spins no clicks even the bios recognize is it but no access to data nor the possiblity to format. What can I do ?? I didn't use any tools yet.

Sounds like firmware issues (common on new WD drives).

No DIY.

If data not important then forget about the drive, if you need data then you will need pro assistance as einstein9 says

Sorry to say this, but this sounds to me VERY unlikely.
WD disks come with at least 2 years warranty, unless this was an ext. drive and you broke open the case or it is an internal disk and you broke the seals. If you're unsure send me the serial number of the drive by PM and i will tell you if your drive has warranty or not.

Regarding the problem, agreed with pcimage, this sounds like a firmware issue.

If the HDD was integrated within a system by a system manufacturer, no warranty is provided by WD. I guess this is what happens here. Probably there is some warranty from the manufacturer of the system?

Yes. There should be *some* warranty by someone, if not WD, then Dell or Asus or whoever the manufacturer of the system is. But disk should be IN warranty.

Well I'm a technician and that's the way I got this drive. But it's not even a year old and I don't know where it has been installed before. I definitely will make some noise at WD.
Selling it cheap but with no warranty can not be the case.

If it's a firmware issue which I suspected than obviously not much can be done.
