Hitachi HDS722516VLSA80, pcb need....

Good day,
I'm looking for a PCB (new or refurbished) for my hdd Hitachi because I
think the elettronic part is fault.

Hdd doesnt give out strange sounds from the internal disk when it's working
after pc is starting but the bios doesent recognize (it's master disk)

I think could be only a elettronic fault so replacing the PCB maybe I could
use again my hdd without lose my data or recovery immediately my data and
then use it as a paperweight in order to leave out any future problems

So, below the features who I read on the label.

model: HDS722516VLSA80
p/n: 13G0254
mlc: H71474
on the molex connector there is this label: 13G0651 J45566_XzG4051H1H

Do you have the right pcb for me or any idea?
I suppose MLC number must be the same, however from the same hdd model, must
be?

Could I solve my problem just only swapping the PCB?

Cambiare il PCB da solo non risolve nulla, un PCB di un altro disco anche identico non funziona (provare per credere).
Al 90-99% il problema e' da un'altra parte e puo' riguardare dati unici memorizzati sia nel PCB sia nel disco (te l'ho resa semplice).

Change the PCB straight away won't work, even identical PCB from identical disk doesn't work (try and see). 90-99% the problem is elsewhere , maybe because of unique data either on PCB or on disk itself (to make it simple).

però ci sono persone che hanno fatto questo ed è andato tutto ok, leggende metropolitane?
ho prlato anche con un tecnico rivenditore ibm e me lo ha confermato.
non mi ha confermato il discorso del MLC.......

I spoke with an Ibm techician and he conferm this.
he didn't confirm me something about the MLC

You may need to transfer "adaptive" calibration data stored in EEPROM, from patient to donor.

Non ho scelta, il disco non posso mandarlo al recupero dati per motivi di estrema privacy lavorativa, quindi perso per perso tento lo swap della pcb, se va ok altrimenti lo butto.

I have not chose, I can't send the hdd to a laboratotry in order to get back the data by clean room cause work extrem privacy, so lost for lost I will try the pcb swap, if it will work well, if not: trash.

Guarda che nessuno entra in merito ai dati durante un recupero, a meno che non te lo fa qualche oscuro "signore" in un sottoscala. Chi fa recupero dati / e' sistemista (io per primo) ha degli obblighi di riservatezza. Evidentemente i problemi sono altri. Comunque prova, male che vada hai perso tempo o un po' di soldi per parti. Quello che dovevo dirti te l'ho detto.

Nobody will look inside data during DR, unless you give the job to unknown guys that do it on their back-bedroom. DR /IT pros, me first, have strict privacy rules. Surely, the problems are definitely other. In any case try, the worst can happen is loosing time and money for parts. What I had to say, I said you.

P.S. se proprio poi lo devi buttare tieniti il circuito e cerca di fare in modo che il disco sia ridotto in pezzettini, visto che c'e' un problema di privacy. Se capita in mano a un esperto, PCB o no, puo' sempre rimetterlo in condizioni di funzionare e di leggere i dati....
A me pare assurdo perche' dal problema sembra una cosa perfettamente risolvibile a un costo ragionevole...comunque...

P.S. if discarding the drive is the sole option, keep the PCB and shred the drive into small splinters, as you said there's a privacy problem : if the drive comes into "right hands", having its native PCB or not, it is possible to make it work again and access data...
To me it seems not reasonable as , at present , it seems a fixable problem at a reasonable price... anyway....

Very cool news.
I bought an used PCB from Ebay from same drive manufactured in the same month (April 2004) and same MLC: H71474 and same main chip number.
Well, some people told me swapping bios on the donor PCB maybe was the only one solution and not sure.
Some other people told me swapping was useless.
Some people told me trying the donor PCB on my hdd without swapping sure this operation would destroy it.

Well people: Friday I received the PCB, just for curiosity I tryed to install it without any swapping operation and.......WORK!
Immmediately my laptop recognized the drive and I get back my data.
The hdd now is perfectly working and booting.

Ti ho detto che puo' succedere, male che andava ne rompevi 2. La procedura corretta e sicura è rendere compatibile un pcb generico con i dati del TUO hda previo controllo, diversamente è rischioso. Ricevo molti dischi incasinati da scambi di pcb, e spesso è un problema risolvere il danno.

If you simply Swap boards you can risk NVRAM overwrite.


Then the headache will become a migraine.
