Hi, I have one of these that's been marked as dead for a few years, one of my friends pointed out it maybe able to resurrect this puppy. The drive spins and clicks but is not readable.

The DCM is HBCHYT2CHN

Any pointers please on what I need to purchase?

Thanks

"There are things money can't buy, for everything else there's Mastercard"

I think it's useless to buy specialized tools that cost thousands of EUR / $ to fix a drive (assuming it is possibile, too).
Last but not least, nobody will guide you through the diagnostic process and/or repair.
So said, it is simpler to send the drive to a pro who can refurbish /fix it (LOOSING ALL THE DATA IN IT) if it is possible or with the applicable limitations i.e. downsizing , for few EUR or a fraction of the cost of a new one.
Please don't expect / ask details.... an entire lifetime maybe would not be sufficient !
