I think it's useless to buy specialized tools that cost thousands of EUR / $ to fix a drive (assuming it is possibile, too).
Last but not least, nobody will guide you through the diagnostic process and/or repair.
So said, it is simpler to send the drive to a pro who can refurbish /fix it (LOOSING ALL THE DATA IN IT)
if it is possible or with the applicable limitations i.e. downsizing , for few EUR or a fraction of the cost of a new one.
Please don't expect / ask details.... an entire lifetime maybe would not be sufficient !
