Is there any way to recover this by myself because I can't afford the cost of professional repair ($900+).

Do you think swapping out the HD's board+bios might be a solution here? My board number is "2060-701453-000 REV A," and I found someone selling this exact board. Or is this definitely not a problem with the board?

I already tried (twice) vacuum-packing the HD and sticking it in the freezer for several hours, and then putting it in the external dock but it didn't work. I did notice that freezing it made the spindle-thing not move up or down for a few minutes, but I don't think that helped any.

So basically, what is my last resort that I can try on my own? Would I be able to buy an exact model of this raptor drive, open it up, and switch out the insides? I know the pros do this kind of thing in a high tech clean room, but again I can't afford to go that route and so this move will be my last resort, and if it is possible to open up the HD and swap the inside out on my own, and then get it to at least start up so that I can recover back some of my things then it wouldn't be a total loss.

Not a pcb issue. DIY is extremely difficult. It is even tough for some of the more seasoned techs.

If your data is important, put the drive in a safe place and save the money.

Agree with labtech, very difficult to work on these drives.

I give you 0.01% chance of success and that's being generous.

Either face up to losing your data or put the drive aside until you can afford to get it looked at professionally.

Do you know what causes this kind of thing? I was just using my computer, and the computer suddenly froze, followed by i guess it's called the "blue screen of death."
