In a moment of stupid I think I shorted out my HDD. I had the cover off my PC while it was plugged in and believe I inadvertantly pulled on the cables connecting the HDD. Now when the computer boots it gives a message that no HDD is found, I of course checked the cables to make sure they were not just loose and no dice. Could the PCB on the drive have gotten shorted out or some other component that I can swap out to boot up the drive and copy all files? I'm not sure what HD info is helpful, the model is WD800BB-60JKA0 and the DCM is ESBHCTJCA.

I've never attempted HDD recovery/repair but i'm fairly technically proficient just need some guidance - thank you in advance!!

Does the drive still spin?

Could be a PCB short/surge.

Like labtech says, you need to see if the drive is still spinning.

If not then a PCB replacement with a U12 ROM swap stands a good chance of fixing it,

Exactly, spin indication is through sound and light vibration.
