I typically search forums for answers to my questions, but honestly, in this case, I don't know what to ask. So if this comes off as a newb question or something I could have googled very simply, I apologize.
Anyway, long story short, I had a partition on my Mac Pro hard drive for windows (boot camp). I wanted to upgrade to windows 7 and, in order to do that, I needed to format that partition and create a new one. Why this is, I don't know, but it's done now.
Boot camp was unable to create a new partition for whatever reason and I ended up using another hard drive.
It turns out that I had some important files (Skyrim save files) that were on this partition. I thought I had backed them up, but I had not. So I went through the process of using undelete software to scan the disk and find the save files. I have successfully found the files I want, however the recovery does not work.
The software I'm using does allow me to recover the files, but the data contained in them is not the data that belongs with the files at all. Matter of fact, for most of the files, it is populating them with data from another game I play called Dwarf Fortress. I personally think that DF data being populated into Skyrim saves is totally hilarious, but it doesn't quite get the job done.
TLDR: The files I am attempting to recover appear to be pointing to the wrong data on the physical disk. At this point I am in over my head and don't even know the proper terminology to describe my problem technically. If anyone else can properly describe my problem using the correct language or point me toward a solution, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you for reading!
