ok, im new here so ill try to be as descriptive as i can, I have a small side business were i do basic pc repair, well recently i took on a dell that was acting strange,which later was determined to be a faulty power supply,however, i visually witnessed an arch on the hdd, im at work so i cant upload pics right this second but i will if need be. the hdd is completely dead, no signs of life, doesnt spin, doesnt show up in bios on any computer, so i began to read these forums and found the instructions on checking the tvs diodes, and found them to be bad, so i used flush cutters and removed the diodes, still nothing, i dont feel comfortable going any futher. i read that in order to replace the pcb you have to remove the bios chip from the old pcb, and my soldering skills are amatuer at best, so i was wondering if any gurus might be willing to take on this hdd, for a fee...i apologize if im posting this in the wrong forum, but look forward to a response, as the customer is quite concerned about their data. thanks in advance for all your help

with that family you can find a board from a matching drive (P/N) with the same firmware and that should work.

Well that's good news I have similar one already, I'll have to check and see if it's a match, thanks for the help(crossed fingers)
