without the password you wont get access to the data no off the shelf software will help as the data is encrypted.

Passware kit forensic can do a brute force attack on bitlocker & truecrypt encryption but it can take months or years if you dont know anything about the password ie its length, if it uses numbers, letters, special case or a combination etc.
If the password is not long & is a standard dictionary word then you might be lucky & recover it but the software is like $900 to buy

Ps doesnt bitlocker create a recovery key text file when create it. Just in case you do forget your password

Loki you and must be in same field. Yes bitlocker has recovery keys if you save them off to let's say a cd or USB stick yes It could be cracked with ftk or other tools if we had an image of the drive that would allow us to make the dictionary to start the attack. I didnt offer that as advice since I doubt many have these tools etc.

I do like passware kits distributed attack method & its support to use graphics card to help speed up the process and now you can use the amazon cloud to distribute too so you can use that to to increase the speed by 80 times.
Yeah ive done some research but their is always more to do

as data recovery & encryption are getting more the norm these days.
