Deepspar can do this one, so can Data Compass and I think that Altolia can also so this one. I have a convertor I can use with the IDE cable to PC3000 DE and I have made that one work too. You have a lot of options out there for good cloning devices and they are improving them and updating them all the time. You can write to these companies and compare or look here to see what others have said about what they use and what they like about them. It is not that hard to find what you are looking for that will do what you want,

Why Hardware, why not HDDup?

I have posted here before that I am a big fan of Deepspar. We run a couple of them 24/7. Bang for the buck, they cannot be beaten. I have seen good reviews of Atola here but I'm not yet convinced.

As far as second hand is concerned, nobody who is using one would want to sell it, if that's any indication of how good they are.

Andre's (the designer's) execution of the DDI is nothing short of brilliant. None better.

If you are looking for something on the cheap, why not just setup a Linux box and use dd? If you want quality, then you really should be looking at DeepSpar.

Amabir,

Stupid question, but what is the purpose DR or cloning good drives? If you are looking for a portable imager and you do not require it to deal with unstable drives, then I suppose that HIE 200 is ok. However if you need an good hardware imager for DR, then you will not find this for the desired price. Therefore I recommended HDdup, since it is somewhere in that price range.

P.S. As Luke already mentioned dd_rescue or ddrescue variations of dd may also be a cost effective solution for you at this point.

Very true, especially with the new features (image by head etc..). Awesome!

We have several of these units, and they are all in use 24/7.

I don't know about the latest versions, but we did test DDI some months ago and the absense of a remote monitoring option and the high price made us switch to buying mode DE units.

I also think that DE offers a lot more "tech pro" possibilities for a not-so-that-higher price difference.

I am very happy with our DE units :D

As an intermediate solution you could build yourself the Copyr power controller and save yourself $160 or so and then test it out with the copyr.dma or hd duplicator demo without commiting yourself.

The Polish distributor has already posted in this thread..... duplicator-distributor-the-polish-copyr-t12562.html
