Guys ,
Have a WD5000AACS HDD From WDC .The PCB Is In a Mess " Hopefully the MCU Is Not Though Its Not Tested " .The PCB No is 2060-701590-000 REV A .I Do Have The Same PCB But From Other Drive Like The WD10EADS Etc .The Problem Is That As Soon As I Put any Of Those PCB's To My Patient The Patient Clicks "Its Obvious As The Rom ,ATA Etc Mismatch .Does This Mean I Need The PCB From The Same Drive Family WD5000AACS ? . Due To The Knocking The Patient Drive Spins Down With The Donor PCB .How Can i solve This .One Way Is To Transfer The MCU From The Patient To The Donor And Try "If The MCU Is OK " .What Else Are My options

I can't answer your question, but I would just like to make the observation that if the original board has sustained the same kind of "mess" as in the following photo, then the MCU and preamp would have to be suspect.

To this end I could help you determine whether there is a short circuit on either the Vcore or Vio supplies, in which case the MCU would probably be dead.

There is a specific reason why it clicks on the larger drives pcb and it has nothing to do with fzabkar's hypothesis.

Well,
sure you are correct .one way is to try to swap the mcu and try .I will do that tommorow on sunday .Secondly i have a idea i am thinking of attaching a wd10eads pcb to salvation data wdc doctor and take a backup of all the modules + rom .Then download some wd5000aacs modules + rom from the net closest match to my drive and program the bios of the wd10eads with wd5000aacs bios i have downloaded and voila i should have the pcb atleast not acting like as i reported in post one .
