St. Louis area DR expert wanted

May 18th, 2011, 15:35

Hello All,

I apologize if this is in the wrong area, or frowned upon on these forums, but I was hoping to get a referral to a local person or local company who can perform data recovery in the St. Louis, MO area. I've got a WD10TMVW - 2.5" WD 1TB harddrive. This is from inside a portable enclosure.

The only company I could find nearby was ESS Data Recovery, which seems to be a large corporation with several locations. As a small business owner, I always like to try and support independent and local people / companies if possible.

Thanks!

-Greg

Hi Greg,

These ones are pretty tricky concerning that almost every specimen i get have platter and head damage at different extent.
I am not sure about your local market, but based on my experience there are not that many firms able to handle these appropriately.
MHA replacement is usually not enough, need to be smart.
We are probably not what you call neighbourhood, but at least we are not ET. Had some drives from China, Japan, Australia also...

u can also ask jono_ats, drc, quasimodo, as US residents.

regards,

pepe

One of my associates in Chicago can recover it, if that's not too far from St. Louis. One-man operation.
Highly recommended. Also you might want to give some more info on what the drive is doing, does it spin? Did you remove it from the enclosure?

ESS bought the domain 'datarecovery.com' for a million dollars. A few years ago? Correct me if I'm wrong. I seem to remember meeting somebody from ESS at some point, highly knowledgeable. In the business since early 80's. So, yea, they're nationwide.
